Sidmouth Chiefs suffered a narrow defeat against Brixham, losing 20-15 at home.

Brixham took an early lead with a try in the second minute, followed by a successful conversion.

The Chiefs dominated the next ten minutes but failed to convert two penalty attempts into points.

Brixham's long-kicking strategy gained them significant territory, but they couldn't add to their score due to Sidmouth's solid defence.

A break from Tom Hodge brought the Chiefs into Brixham's 22, but a knock-on ended the move.

However, they remained mostly in Brixham's half.

The pressure led to two yellow cards for Brixham, and Harry Emmett took advantage, scoring a try from a quick tap penalty move.

James Docherty's conversion levelled the scores.

The Chiefs were penalised from the restart, allowing Brixham to regain the lead.

In the final minute of the half, the Chiefs capitalised on their numerical advantage, with Finn Lashbrook scoring an unconverted try for a 12-10 half-time lead.

Brixham started the second half strongly, scoring a try and conversion in the third minute, followed by a penalty ten minutes later, extending their lead.

Despite the Chiefs' efforts, the last quarter proved lacklustre, with only James Docherty's penalty ensuring a bonus point.

The Chiefs used their extra men as Brixham ran out of defenders under pressure for Finn Lashbrook to touch down for an unconverted try and a 12-10 half-time lead.

Brixham regained the lead three minutes into the second half when they used a scrum inside the Sidmouth 22 to set up a series of rucks from which a try resulted.

The Chiefs will now look to bounce back as they travel to face bottom club Chew Valley on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Quins will host Newton Abbot 2nds at Blackmore Field, and the Colts will travel to Ivybridge.
