Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club had a mixture of results at the weekend, with the women’s section of the club faring better than the men’s, writes Andrew Coley.
The women’s first team travelled to take on Exeter and Culm Vale Hornets 1 and came away with all the points, with a 1-6 victory.
And the second team also played a stinging side, but in their case, it was Honiton Hornets 1, and they won their home game 2-1.
With the third team match cancelled, it was down to the fourth team to complete the winning set, with a home win over Exeter 6 development side, 1-0, although the official result was 0-0.
On the men’s side of the club, the first team entertained Westbury and United Banks 1 in a home fixture, under the heavy skies of Storm Bert.
It was the visitors who claimed the win, 2-3.
The second team travelled to Bridgwater 2 but came away with nothing, with a home victory, 4-1.
And with the men’s third and fourth team not having fixtures, they played each other in a friendly that mixed the sides together.
It was the team in black that claimed the victory, 3-1.
