A family of runners from the Sidmouth Running Club (SRC) took part in the Cardiff Half Marathon for charity.

The six runners joined more than 22,000 participants in the Principality Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday.

Sarah Clapham ran alongside her children, with each family member supporting a different charity.

Sarah ran for Dementia UK, her daughter Molly for Mind, and son Tom for Cardiff University Cancer Research.

She praised her children's efforts, expressing pride in their commitment to their respective causes.

Tom finished the race in one hour, 43 minutes, and 22 seconds, while Sarah was pleased with her time of two hours, one minute, and 22 seconds.

Molly finished just 34 seconds behind her mother.

Teacher Naomi Garrick, a former Cardiff student, also participated in the event.

She ran for Mind, aiming for a sub-two-hour finish time, which she achieved at one hour, 59 minutes, and 50 seconds.

Naomi's nephew, Dan Nash, was the first Welsh person to finish the race with a time of one hour, five minutes, and 13 seconds.

Cousins Kyle, Cameron, and Ashley Baker, along with their partners Nikita Kay, Megan Pewsey, and Maisy Brooke, also participated in the race, with everyone except Ashley achieving personal best times.

Megan Pewsey finished first among the Sidmouth Running Club group, completing the race in one hour, 47 minutes, and 12 seconds.

Kyle Baker crossed the line at one hour, 49 minutes, and 45 seconds, while Nikita Kay, Maisy Brooke, and Ashley Baker finished in two hours, two minutes, 22 seconds, and two hours, four minutes, 47 seconds, respectively.

Cameron Baker completed his first half marathon in two hours, 18 minutes, and 49 seconds.

The group appreciated the support from spectators, particularly around the Millennium Centre, and the plentiful food and entertainment stations.

Cameron Baker credited free Lucozade for helping him through the race.

Kyle Baker noted that the route was flatter than what the group was used to, with only two hills.

Megan Pewsey was caught off guard by one of the hills at mile 12 but still managed to finish first among the Sidmouth Running Club group.

The Sidmouth Running Club also reported a successful start to their fortnightly off-road by-torch sessions, led by John and Ben Chesters.

Despite a rainy beginning, the club's Monday training sessions, led by chairman Terry Bewes, were also well-attended.

The club's junior group is reportedly growing, with each session presenting new challenges.

Junior runner Amelia Womersley-Westlake recently improved her five-kilometre parkrun time, achieving a new personal best of 30 minutes, and 52 seconds.
