The Ottery St Mary Bowling Club season concludes on a high note, with regional matches and visiting teams brightening the last days.

On September 13, Shaftesbury Bowling Club met with Ottery at Strawberry Lane, culminating in an enjoyable match for both clubs.

Not only was it a battle of skills on the lanes, but the catering team also impressed with a delicious lunch.

No matches took place the following Saturday, making way for the annual Chairman's Day on Sunday.

Spearheaded by new chairman, Carl Gilleard, the day saw teammates divided into North and East England versus South and West.

A fierce competition ensued, but off the field, the players enjoyed an excellent cream tea.

More visitors arrived at Ottery as news of the welcoming atmosphere spread.

Bredon Bowling Club, commonly known as the BBC, made their annual visit from Worcestershire.

A great game ensued with Ottery marking a substantial win.

Sunday, September 22, will bring The Final Drive.

The club will then close for winter, and start preparing for the next season, starting on April 13, 2025.

Reflecting on the season, a new player said: "Our first season has been so much fun!"

The spirit of mutual respect and competitiveness permeated throughout the season.
