Two runners recently tackled two demanding challenges for Sidmouth Running Club (SRC).

Jim Hudson and Liz Wright racked up over £1,800 for the RD&E’s Stoma group.

Their first feat involved a 22-mile trek of the Get Guts Jurassic coastal walk, stretching from Seaton to Exmouth.

Although they were drenched from Budleigh, the duo remained undeterred.

Jim said that It was an excellent event with great weather and route.

After the coastal walk, they headed to the Peak District for the second challenge, the 9 Edges Fell race.

This 20-mile off-road race began in Fairholmes and concluded at the Robin Hood pub near Birchen Edge.

Despite the harsh moorland conditions, the two runners persevered and finished the race, demonstrating their impressive determination.

Meanwhile, Jo Earlam, another SRC member, took on the challenge of running her 102nd marathon after a one-year break.

Miss Earlam said: "It was a beautiful day to be running along the old railway line between Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton," and expressed her delight after clocking a solid finish time of 5:40:00.

Showing that age is no barrier to embracing challenges, junior member Jude Carson made his debut drumming and paddling with the Mighty Green Dragon Boat racing team on Exeter Canal.

Fittingly, he also participated in his first park run at Exmouth last Sunday.

Club members Don Cawthera and Derek Blackburn achieved worthy milestones, completing their 150th park runs together with Maja Luna achieving her 25th at Cranbrook.

Despite the various locations — from the Dolgelau railway line in North Wales to the former Frys Chocolate factory grounds in Keynsham — the determination of SRC members remains unwavering.
