Sidmouth and East Devon Fencing Club are offering coaching services across several fencing disciplines to male and female members.

With current members ranging from 8 to 88 years old, the club's coaches are committed to creating an enjoyable and inclusive environment.

Toby Moore, a leading member who started fencing in 2016, has been selected for multiple U17 European competitions and represented England's Cadet level at the Commonwealth Championships in New Zealand.

Mr Moore still finds time to coach Epee at Sidmouth, developing the technique of one of the club's younger members to enable them to qualify for and fence in the British Youth Championships 2024.

The club also benefits from the expertise of veteran fencer Angela Findlay.

She began her journey with the sport at Sidmouth while raising her young children and now represents GB in the Veteran World Championships.

Ms Findlay coaches the club alongside Valerie Morrish and Nigel Manning, who collectively enrich the sessions with their experience.

In 2024, six Sidmouth fencers showcased their skills at the British Youth Championships held in Sheffield over a weekend.

Commended for their performances were Cassidy Chan, who achieved second place in the U14 girls' foil, and Keeley Sawyer, who scooped third place in the Sabre event at the GB Cup.

The club welcomes anyone with an interest in the sport to come and give fencing a try.

The weekly sessions are every Thursday evening between 5.30pm and 8pm at Sidmouth LED Sports Centre.
