Sidmouth's Terrific Trio suffered a heart-rending defeat in the County Quarter Final of the Benevolent Triples when they faced off against a formidable team from Topsham BC.
Karen, Sue, and Jane, three courageous players from Sidmouth Bowling Club, took part in the competition last Sunday.
On a great morning, Sidmouth BC members gathered in earnest, lining the outskirts of the green in support of the talented trio.
However, the game's early stages saw the team conceding seven shots across the preliminary four ends to their Topsham BC counterparts.
Despite the initial setback, brave bowlers fought admirably, keeping pace with their opponents.
Unfortunately, the early 7-point setback was too substantial to overcome.
In the final stages, with only three ends remaining, they ultimately met with defeat, allowing Topsham BC to progress to the semi-final round.
Reflecting the intensity of the clash, the final score was Sidmouth 15 – Topsham 22.
This early stumble may linger in the minds of the Sidmouth bowlers for a while.
However, there's always next year and more opportunities for redemption.
The contest aside, Sidmouth's formidable trio still has a shot at glory in the forthcoming County 2 Wood Triples quarter-final.
The entire club, as well as their numerous supporters, wishes them the best of luck.
