Tipton St John has broken a four-match losing streak by defeating Coaver Gerries with a win by 6 wickets.
The Gerries, who batted first, were kept mostly under control with batsman Nick Guest making the most of the innings with a score of 49 over 36 overs.
Mark Channon and David Birch made early inroads with Channon bowling out Padfield for 7 and David Birch dismissing the assertive Daniel Lobb for 26, thanks to Phil Wright's slip catch.
An impressive play by Adam Gibbins saw a spinning ball finding the edge of Jones' bat, which was caught by Channon.
Battling on, Guest’s firm innings came to an end when bowled by John Buckland, leaving the Gerries posting a final score of 157-4.
Despite the early loss of captain Dave Thayre for 5, Tipton St John managed a solid reply with Luke Phillips and Mike Bennett raising the score to 54.
After Phillips was caught on 36, the team ran into brief difficulty suffering the loss of Bennett, caught by Jones after posting a score of 21, and Patrick Smith who failed to score.
However, an impressive performance by John Buckland, who scored a swift 58 off 33 balls and Adam Gibbins' 29 off 27 balls, saw Tipton claim the triumph with 16 overs to spare.
Tipton St John CC also announced their 50th-anniversary celebrations in late August, which promises a cricket festival against some visiting teams.
The much-anticipated matches against Incogniti CC, Boffins CC, and Ascott-under-Wychwood CC will take place on August 22, 25, and 27 respectively, all starting at 1pm.
The club spread a warm welcome to spectators and supporters to enjoy the matches and attend the family-friendly cricket event scheduled for August 25, where everyone has been invited to take part in a softball cricket tournament.
Two under-14s and two ladies must be on each team and no cricket experience is required.
The day will kick off at 11am with a barbecue throughout the day.
The entry fee is £10 per team and those interested contact David Birch (07929822940 ) for more details.
