Sidmouth's non-playing Palairet Captain, Duncan Arnold and his team have won the quarter-final match at Stover Golf Club.
The team produced a fantastic effort against Yelverton, winning 3.5 to 1.5.
Mr Arnold admitted that the closing stages of the match were nerve-wracking.
Having won their quarter-final match, Sidmouth's golfers are looking forward to the finals day at the Tiverton Golf Club on Sunday, August 11.
The event begins at 8am and will include Sidmouth v Stover and Warren v Torquay all vying for the prestigious Palairet Cup.
In other golfing news, Sidmouth Jewellers' Friday Stableford saw a triumphant Pete Basnett, who won with a commendable score of 42.
Simon Emerson trailed him closely, taking the second spot with 41 points, while Graham Davies secured third with 39 points.
Saturday's Potbury Trophy competition saw an excellent performance by the duo of Mike Knight and Steve Crabb.
Their outstanding score of 51, which included nine birdies, secured them the first-place prize.
Monday's Veterans Cup medal competition for those over 60 was dominated by Ian Phillips with an impressive net score of 57.
John Bainbridge and John Randall kept things competitive with scores of 60 and 61, securing the second and third spots respectively.
The Upper Crust Stableford on the same day was won by Tiku Patidar in Div 1 with 39 points.
Neil Faulkner also impressed, taking home the Seniors prize with 37 points, while in Div 2 Joe Norris reigned supreme with 35 points.
The golf scene in Sidmouth is thriving, with a wealth of talent in participation and many upcoming events to look forward to.
