Sidmouth Golf Club Seniors lost to Yeovil Golf Club Seniors 4-2 in a very competitive game.
The matches, held on July 8, took off after a delightful breakfast of smoked bacon baps and coffee.
Despite a forecast of widespread rain, the weather was gentle with drizzle sparingly occurring.
The exceptional maintenance of the golf course made it a pleasure to play.
Jonty Clews and Adam Lloyd emerged as the first victorious pair, concluding their match on the 12th hole, winning by 7 to 6.
However, the remaining matches were neck-and-neck.
In one instance, Mike Davis and Alan Goodson arrived at the 18th hole with a lead, yet their match met a draw on the final green.
On this same hole, Ian Philips and Roger Bawden managed to level their game from a trailing position.
Unfortunately, Sidmouth Seniors lost the final three games 2-1.
In another event, the Sidmouth Jewellers Friday Stableford championship was clinched by Dave Richards, who began a victorious golfing weekend by posting a terrific score of 45.
He was closely trailed by Terry Pares who scored 41 and Mike Gosling who scored 37.
Club President's Day, presided over by Bob Webber, saw exemplary performances from Marie Timms and Sheila Faulkner who won the ladies' prize with 44 points.
John Dunn and Saju Patidar reached the pinnacle with 45 points, slightly above the runners-up, Adrian Mitchell, and Mitch Davidson.
The B Team didn't have the same luck during their meeting with Crediton on Sunday and lost 2.5 to 3.5.
Sidmouth's only victorious pairs were Dave Richards and Jamie Souttar along with Paul Godwin and Geoff Lory.
A rematch is scheduled for August 4, and the B team is keen on reversing the past performance.
The Seniors also organised their Medal & Putting competition on Monday.
However, due to sudden rain, the turnout was relatively low.
Richard Houghton Brown bagged the medal honours with a 4 under par 62 with John White at 64 and Hugh Dorliac at 66.
Chris Grubb triumphed in the total putts category with an impressive 26 putts.
Lastly, the Upper Crust Monday Stableford winners were Moray Bosence with 41 in Div 1, followed by Dan Colson and Ben Gibbs both scoring 39.
David Richards continued his winning spree in Div 2 with 36 points, beating Geoff Lory who also scored the same.
