The Sidmouth Palairet Team celebrated a triumphant victory over East Devon at Woodbury Park on Sunday, securing a 3.5 - 1.5 win.
This successful outcome propels the team into the Quarter-final, thanks to the expert selection of their non-playing Captain, Duncan Arnold.
Arnold, evaluating the performance of the team, enthused that the whole team played great, with three matches going to the 18th.
The Quarter-final will now take place at Stover on July 28th, where the Sidmouth team will compete against Yelverton.
However, the victory at Woodbury Park was not the only match taking place over the weekend, as Sidmouth seniors travelled to Axminster, aiming to replicate their home success from the previous week.
The game did not start favourably, with the acting captain, Phil Spencer and David Bromage losing 5 & 3.
Despite the loss, their opponents, Richard Broadhurst and Michael Cooper, widely regarded as a formidable duo, snagged the Exminster nearest the pin prize.
In contrast, the pair Martyn Cross & Adrian Hack enjoyed an excellent match with a triumphant 1-up win.
In a demonstration of skill, Martyn won the Sidmouth nearest the pin prize.
On a less fortunate note, the matches of Adrian White & Alan Goodson as well as Bernie Millward and Jim Metcalf resulted in losses.
In similar unfortunate circumstances, Jonty Clews and John Fox lost 6 & 4, despite a promising start at the second hole.
Finally, the pairing of John Randall and Paul Blay returned some pride to the team by winning 7 holes over Exminster’s 2, concluding winners 5 & 4.
Even with the loss by 4 matches to 2, over the two legs, the Sidmouth team were overall victors, topping Exminster 7.5 to 4.5.
Meanwhile, at the Sidmouth Jewellers Friday Stableford, Jim Metcalf prevailed with a remarkable 43 points, with Richard Trim securing the runner-up position with 37 points and Mike Gosling finishing third at 36 points.
The Baters Removals monthly medal competition took place over the weekend as well.
In Div 1, Tiku Patidar emerged victorious by countback on net 64, beating Jamie Souttar and Ronnie Moore.
Meanwhile, in Div 2, Brian Leach bested Paul Godwin and Vernon Ruffle with net 66.
In spite of poor weather conditions, the Upper Crust Monday Stableford proceeded as planned with Simon Knowles topping the leaderboard achieving 33 points, pipping Arron Taylor and David Cowler to the post.
