Ottery St Mary snatched a last-minute victory against Tipton St John in a 35-over cricket match on Sunday, winning by two wickets.
Arranged after both sides faced cancelled matches, the game offered an enticing challenge, ensuring eager attendees didn't miss England's Euro game.
Tipton, batting first, scored 150 with Dave Thayre and John Buckland contributing significantly scoring 32 and 39 respectively.
Their 50-run partnership was cut short by Harry Sharp's victorious catch on the boundary off a Thayre hit.
Tipton stood at 88-4 halfway into the match with Buckland bowled out by Sophie Brandom.
Patrick Smith and Sam Stone aided in reaching the innings total.
Tight bowling from Sam Harlon, Sophie Brandom and Bob Cope kept the pressure on Tipton.
Ottery started slightly shaky, as David Birch bagged two wickets, including his 750th wicket for the club, making Ottery slip to 36-4.
The game took a turn as Danny Gleeson began a recovery with an impressive 31 until bowled LBW by Phil Wright.
Brett Venables and Tom Jeacock kept Ottery afloat, with Venables making a respectable 42 until caught out by Buckland.
Jeacock remained undefeated with 34 runs.
In an electrifying finale, the winning run was secured on the penultimate ball, yielding Ottery the well-deserved victory.
