John Buckland hit his first century of the season as Tipton St John overpowered Topsham St James in a cricket match this Sunday.
Hosting their rivals for the first time, Tipton ended on a commanding 259-6, with the in-form Buckland retiring on 102 late in the innings.
David Thayre, agonisingly close to a half-century, was caught in the covers for 47 while Tom Birch scored 28 before he was also caught.
Buckland teamed up with Reece Whittington for a critical 105-run partnership.
Meanwhile, Topsham's batting faltered, losing wickets consistently and lagging at 54-5.
David Birch had opener Rahul Potluri dismissed LBW for 1, then had Alfie Anderson caught by Buckland without scoring.
Dave Alford bowled the next three players.
The visitors saw something of a comeback with two 50-run partnerships, first by Jacob Taylor and Dan Anderson, followed by Anderson and Krithik Potluri.
Nevertheless, Anderson fell to another catch from Buckland off Thayre's bowling after striking 60, leaving Topsham trailing at 169-7.
Tipton's strong performance established their superiority on the cricket field and left Topsham with much to consider.
