A superb 3rd wicket partnership of 150 between David Thayre and John Buckland helped Tipton beat hosts Marldon on Sunday.
The visitors had lost wickets when Charles O’Higgins (22) and Mark Burnard (1) who were both bowled, but the partnership lasting 24 overs was decisive.
Thayre retired on 102 from 93 balls and Buckland also remained undefeated retiring on 71 from 71 balls shortly before the end of Tipton’s innings.
It gave Lewis Davies time to hit 18 from 7 balls as Tipton closed on 248-5.
Marldon lost wickets at regular intervals from the time David Birch bowled opener Harris in the 3rd over.
Owen Smith hit the wickets of the next two batsmen before first change bowler Phil Wright clipped the bails of Neil Knox who had scored 24.
The safe hand of Buckland took a good catch on the boundary gave Wright another wicket.
Lewis Davies then struck twice leaving Marldon in a hopeless position on 85-7.
David Jessop was cajoled into action and surprised himself by bagging the 3 remaining wickets.
He had Harry Roberts caught in the deep by O’Higgins for 6, then bowled top scorer Cam Laming for 39 and Grant Thompson first ball to give Tipton a win by 145 runs.
