This weekend sees the culmination of Sidmouth Rugby Club’s most successful season since the introduction of league rugby in 1987, writes Terry O’Brien.
The 1st Team have won the Regional 2 Tribute South-West league and next season will be playing at the highest level of the rugby ladder they have reached. And on Sunday they play Topsham in the final of the Devon Intermediate Cup at the Blackmore Field kicking off at 3.00pm. We are expecting a large crowd so arrive early.
Two weeks ago the Colts beat Ivybridge 24-17 at Newton Abbot to win the Devon Colts Cup outright for the first time. On Saturday they travel to Launceston to take on the winners of the Cornwall Colts Cup.
The women’s team, the Valkyries have finished a very creditable fourth in their league.
The men’s Veterans Team have won seven of their eight matches in their second season.
The Club runs nineteen successful teams of men, youths, juniors, women and girls. The maximum number possible.
