Sidmouth Bowls Club enjoyed two excellent friendly wins over Madeira last week, one for the men and one for the ladies, writes Carol Smith.
In a very competitive game for the men, we enjoyed two strong wins and a narrow loss. Our top rink was skipped by men’s Captain Paul, alongside Bert Hague and Kevin Frickey, with a great score of 22-7. The second winning rink comprised Chas Coates, Phil Meadows and skip Wilf Radburn, 17 - 10. Final result: Sidmouth 49 Madeira 33.
The top rink for the ladies enjoyed a superb 32-5 victory, Chris Radburn, Elaine Reed and skip Jane Painter delivering a dominant display. Mary Turner, Anita Mason and skip Sue Turner also had a great score of 17 - 6. The third rink skipped by Jill Bishop lost by just a couple of shots. Overall, an outstanding win of 62 – 28.
