It was a weekend of more defeats than victories for Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club with only two wins recorded for the seven teams that were playing, writes Andrew Coley.
On the women’s side of the club, the first team led the way when they travelled to Frome 1 and claimed a 1-3 win. In a similar vein, the women’s second team also returned from an away match with all the league points with a 2-4 win against White Eagles 1.
But playing the same club in a home fixture, the women’s third team lost 1-4 against White Eagles 2. The fourth team travelled to Taw Valley 1 but suffered a heavy defeat, losing 13-1.
On the men’s side of the club, the first team took on Chard 1 in a competitive home game but lost by the odd goal in five, losing 2-3. The men’s second team travelled to Shepton Mallet 2 but it was the home side that claimed the points with a 3-0 victory.
While the third team had no game, the fourth team development side entertained Devonport Services at home. Being a development side, the official result was 0-0 but it was the visitors who edged the game, winning 1-2.
