Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club recorded some successes at the weekend with both first teams claiming victory, writes Andrew Coley.
The men’s first travelled to take on University of Bristol 4 and the journey was worthwhile as they won 1-2.
In the meantime, the women’s first team entertained Exeter and Culm Vale Hornets at home and claimed the points with an emphatic 4-0 win.
In terms of the second teams, the men’s side played Isca 6 at home and won 2-0. But the women did not fare so well in their own home fixture, losing 2-5 against Exeter 3.
At the third team level, neither the men’s nor women’s teams got any points. Both playing away, the men’s side returned empty-handed from Devonport Services, in Plymouth, after losing 6-1, and the women’s team fared slightly better, only losing 3-1 away at Exeter 5.
With limited availability on the men’s side of the club, the fourth team match was cancelled but the women’s fourth team achieved a positive result, winning 2-1 at home to Chard 2.
The coming weekend sees most teams having a break, with just the women’s first team having a rearranged match away at Isca and Exeter University 5.
