A Sidmouth club team made up of a mixture of first, second and over 35 players entertained Welsh tourists Narberth on a blank weekend of league rugby.
Narberth took the lead after five minutes when their hooker finished off a slick piece of inter-passing on the blindside of a ruck for an unconverted try.
The Welshmen increased their lead midway through the half when the outside centre found a gap after several phases near the Sidmouth line. He also added the conversion. Sidmouth opened their account on the half hour when Dan Retter dummied his way over on the end of an excellent handling move across the opposing 22.
Narberth finished the half in style when the number six touched down at the end of fine handling to give them a 17-5 half-time lead. Sidmouth were excellent after the break but the only reward was a try by Jed Reid, as the Welshmen won 31-12.
The Chiefs host Chard on Saturday.
