Organised by Marion and Robert Hayman, the fabulous Four Trigs is a special local event now in its 22nd year and supports the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), writes Alexa Baker.
The aim is to visit each of the four Triangulation Pillars around the Sid Valley with runners choosing their own routes, but they must visit each Trig Point in order, taking in the five checkpoints to help taper the route (approx. 17 miles).
Jo Pavey MBE and sponsor Nigel Winchester (Ian Winchesters and Sons) sent the 104 entrants, including 20+ Mighty Greens from Sidmouth Running Club, on their way across the seafront towards High Peak under perfect weather conditions.
Sam Kelly, Exmouth Harriers, was the first male to return in 2:10:46 and Ellie Keast the first female in 2:55:18, outstanding achievements with the 3,740 feet of elevation involved.
Everyone received a medal on return thanks to sponsor Richard King of Kings Garden and Leisure, baked potatoes and cake were enjoyed and Kate Truman from Phyzz Soft Tissue Therapy was generously offering a post-event massage in return for donations to CRY.
Marion and Robert are very grateful to everyone who supported this year’s event and helped raise an incredible £2,200!
