The Seniors from Sidmouth Golf Club travelled to Lyme Regis to play in the annual tri-club winter tournament against Lyme and Cricket St Thomas in very chilly conditions, writes Hugh Dorliac.
Despite the sun showing its face, fairways and bunkers were still frozen in places, making for interesting golf and generally low scores. Ultimately, the home team won the first leg with a combined score of 260. Cricket came second with 252 and Sidmouth came in with 230. Work to be done in the second leg at Cricket next month!
The highlight for Sidmouth from a frosty day on the fairways came from Bob Johnston, who scored a fabulous hole-in-one on the par three 13th hole and celebrated with drinks all round. A generous, if expensive gesture, much appreciated by players from all the teams. Well played Bob, a couple more of those will be very welcome in the next round.
