Sidmouth Seniors had their final match of the season away at local rivals Honiton, starting with a tight 2&1 win for Captain Brian Rice and Glyn Hewitt.
Phil Spencer and Colin Paddon lost the final four holes for an agonising defeat, while Steve Nunn and Paul Blay were also unlucky in their 2&1 loss.
Mike Davis and Adrian White were two down at the turn but finished brilliantly to win the match. The penultimate pair of Len Wright and Jonty Clews survived a tight finish in securing another victory but there was a tough loss for David Cowler and Keith James.
This all added up to a very creditable tie, 3-3. However, Sidmouth, having won the home leg 4-2, triumphed overall by 7-5. A good rest now before matches start again next April.
Meanwhile, the Seniors closing competition this Monday under American Foursome rules saw Mark Laird and Ken Mylne win with a nett 59 from Paul Blay and Brian Margison who posted 60, taking second from Len Wright and Vernon Ruffle on countback.
The Upper Crust Monday stableford had Archie Griffiths winning with 39 points from Graham Davies and Neil Holland, both on 36 apiece.
