Sidmouth bowlers got underway in the Men’s County Trophy Over 60’s League against a very strong team from Exonia, writes Carol Smith.
It was a big test for Sidmouth against players who compete indoors most of the year but the best score came from the home rink of John Richards, Malcolm Smith, John Chew and skip David Timms, who lost by just one shot, 18-19.
The team of Andrew Lowe, David Parsons, Paul Irvine and skip Ken Wheeler, 20-16, were the top performers in an InterClub match with Honiton.
We also sent a team of four mixed rinks away to Honiton and, apart from one of our rinks losing a "HOTSHOT", we still managed an overall win, 58-56. Two rinks both won by ten shots: Lynn Pike, Derek Mountford, Anita Mason and skip Tony Broughton, 19-9, also Brian Deam, Deborah Robertson, Ron Peppin and skip Carol Smith, 20-0.
