Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club recorded three wins and four losses as the teams played in the latest round of league matches, with the season now fully underway, writes Andrew Coley.
On the men’s side of the club, the first team travelled to Bristol Firebrands 2 and came away empty-handed, losing 1-3. The second team had a shorter journey when they travelled to Chard and fared better by claiming all the points with a 0-1 win.
The only men’s side to be playing at home, the third team, also recorded a win, 2-0 against their visitors from the English Riviera, Torbay.
On the women’s side of the club, the first team lost out, losing by the odd goal in five, in a home fixture against Isca and Exeter Uni 5. And the second team took on Isca and Exeter Uni 7 in an away match but it was the home side that claimed the points with a 6-0 win.
The women’s third and fourth teams played each other in a tight encounter, with the third team just edging it with a 3-2 win. This week sees all eight club sides with a fixture in what should be an entertaining weekend.
