Sidmouth Bowls Club once again held our annual Outdoor Presentation Lunch at one of our lovely 4-star hotels, writes Carol Smith.
Lots of winners turned up to collect their well-earned trophies and to enjoy an excellent lunch. We had a wonderful array of cups that had been duly engraved and polished by our Competition Secretaries Brenda and David.
Ladies Captain Jill and Men’s Captain Roger presented the Trophies and our Master of Ceremonies, Peter, once again had us all laughing at his jokes, some we may well have heard before!
A few days earlier, we played our first internal game of the Indoor Season. This is always a very friendly, but also a competitive, game of Ladies v Gents.
Having lost both outdoor games, the ladies were in determined mood and in the morning session, we had a good overall win of plus 10. In the afternoon session, we drew overall, so a great aggregate score and win for the ladies of 80 to 70.
The morning top rinks were ladies: Annie Crocket, Chris Hamer, Anita Mason and Carol Timms, 23 - 6. Men: Simon Gregory, Denis Griffiths, Phil Meadows and John Mason, 19 - 9. The afternoon lady winners: Chris Radburn, Mary Turner and Sue Turner. 18 - 10. The men: Mick Jerome, Derek Mountford and Ken Wheeler, 22- 14.
