Goals from Nathan Cooper, Louis Jagger Cane and Sam Hatswell stretched the Vikings unbeaten league run to seven games, as Sidmouth Town recorded a brilliant 3-1 win at Okehampton Argyle.
Jamie Vaughan-Ryall almost opened the scoring for Sidmouth after a header at the back post, while Liam Carey was causing chaos in the Oke box with his delivery.
Despite dominating the opening 20 minutes, Oke fashioned their first chance when a couple of ricochets saw the ball fall perfectly to Luke Reynolds and he calmly slotted the ball past Zach Lee.
The lead didn’t last long, as a Carey corner was headed in by Cooper. Sidmouth continued to pile on pressure and were unfortunate not to go in front when Louis Jagger Cane lifted the ball over the keeper but his effort was hooked off the line.
Sidmouth knew they would keep creating chances it was just a matter of taking them Cane's pace was causing all sorts of problems but he really should have scored when he raced through but lashed it over the bar.
However, on the 62nd minute Cane got the goal he deserved with a wonder-strike. Quick thinking from Vaughan-Ryall released Cane who chopped inside his defender before arrowing a stunning left footed strike into the far corner.
Things got better two minutes later, when Cane released Scott Hughes, his effort was well saved and then Cane saw his effort cleared off the line but Sam Hatswell was right on que to hammer the ball home, his first goal in the South West Peninsula League.
It was a brilliant result for Sidmouth, which made the midweek 2-0 reverse to Crediton United even more frustrating, but it has still been a fantastic spell for the Vikings, who travel to Axminster on Friday.
Sidmouth 2nds welcomed Sandford to Manstone Rec under perfect footballing conditions. Sidmouth, off the back of a good solid draw against high flying Colyton the week before, started brightly and with confidence.
An own goal gifted Sidmouth the lead but Sandford replied from close range. The Vikings restored their lead with a delightful chip from Will Jenkins. It was a beautiful goal and a win was confirmed through Matt Salter’s penalty.
