It has taken a while and a little bit of heartache but Ottery St Mary AFC secured their first home win of the Devon Football League season with an outstanding 5-0 demolition of Barnstaple Town Reserves at Washbrook Meadow.
The Otters started slowly and took 30 minutes to find their fluency, but once they did, the North Devon visitors had no response to a superb attacking performance.
Jake Williams smashed the opener into the top corner from a free-kick, and the first goal was quickly followed by strikes from Riki Pitter and Adrian Parr.
The three-goal advantage allowed Ottery to cruise through the second period, underlining their dominance with a brace from top scorer Seb Copp. Man of the match was awarded to goalkeeper Harrison Burton, who was impeccable between the sticks, and special mention for teenagers Luca Staniforth and Noah Al Sedani.
