At Churston, the Sidmouth GC Parker Trophy team were playing Tiverton in the morning semi-finals, which Sidmouth won 2 games to 1 courtesy of the pairings of James Pickard/David Bater and Neil Holland/ Lewis White, writes Hugh Dorliac.
These two pairs also won their matches in the final against Dawlish Warren to take the trophy for the second successive year. Thanks to the other players who got Sidmouth to Finals, plus sponsors the Deer Park Hotel and Baters Removals.
The Sidmouth Jewellers sponsored Friday Stableford was won by Duncan Taylor with a modest 37, two points ahead of Graham Davies on 35. Philip Postlethwaite took third with 32.
Harrison-Lavers and Potburys sponsored this month's Medal competition on Saturday at Sidmouth Golf Club and Lewis White took Division 1 with a nett 61 ahead of David Bater on 63, both of whom would feature strongly in the Parker Trophy finals the following day. Bob Johnston won Division 2 also with 61, ahead of Nick Bater 65 and Lester Willmington on 66.
At home, the Margot Beauchamp trophy, a betterball pairs competition set up to commemorate the late Ladies Captain and Club President was won on countback by Jane Renken and Steve Nunn with 47 points from Gerri Whitrow and Len Wright.
Upper Crust Monday stableford winners were:- div 1 Lewis Perry 43, Steve Nunn 41 and Arron Taylor 40. Div 2 David Bromage 37, Paul Blay 36 and Chris Holland.35.
Sidmouth ladies ‘struck gold’ with the weather on 30th with a fabulous warm and sunny day for the County prize competition -with the preceding and following days being somewhat of a washout !
Coming back to the clubhouse with the winning score of 37 points was Heather Cowan narrowly beating Yvonne Anning on countback. Angela Coles scored a very respectable 35 points in third position.
In addition to the competition a fundraiser for Devon Air Ambulance took place and £150 was raised with the winning ladies winning Miss Designer golf clothing vouchers.
