Sidmouth Town completed their football season with victory over Ottery St Mary in a compelling Morrison Bell Cup Final.
The Vikings reached this showpiece game with a 3-2 victory over Axminster Town, while the Otters overpowered Feniton 3-0 in the semi-final, and the game kicked off in gleaming evening sunshine at Ottery’s Washbrook Meadows.
Sidmouth opened the scoring when Liam Carey calmly slotted a penalty into the bottom corner and he then repeated the trick with a second spot-kick. Ottery, to their immense credit, responded with two goals of their own to level the tie, despite being down to ten men.
Ultimately, however, Sidmouth made their advantage count in the closing minutes. Will Jenkins restored their lead with ten minutes left on the clock and victory was sealed by a goal from Tiernan West. Congratulations to Sidmouth Town for the win and to Ottery for a brave performance on the night.
