Sidmouth RFC was proudly represented by four players (Jack Marchant, Haydon Down, Dan Armstrong and Cole Monaghan), who all helped Devon to victory over Berkshire at Reading RFC in Division Two of the Bill Beaumont County Championship.
Haydon, Dan and Cole all started for Devon in a game played in conditions more suited to winter rugby. Cole kicked three penalties in the first half to give Devon a 3-9 lead at the interval.
Devon went down to 13 players, allowing Berkshire back into the game, and Jack Marchant came on with 25 minutes to go. Berkshire scored a try with five minutes to go, leaving the score 15-14 to the hosts.
With 90 seconds on the clock, replacement fly half Brad McKee kept his nerve to slot a difficult penalty from 35m out to given Devon. The next challenge for Devon was Dorset and Wiltshire away at Royal Wootton Bassett RFC.
