The scintillating form of Sidmouth Town continued with a fourth win in a row and a third clean sheet in that sequence.
The Vikings have been inspired in recent weeks but a trip to Cullompton Rangers is always a tricky test and so it proved in the first half. While Sidmouth controlled large periods of the opening 45 minutes, they were unable to find the attacking rhythm required to break down their hosts.
That all changed after the interval and the crucial opening goal arrived on the hour, when a fizzing cross from Tom Bray was turned over the line by a retreating Cully defender for an unfortunate own goal.
The home side stayed in the game until 12 minutes from time, when a swift Sidmouth break saw substitute Ashley Small surge past two defenders and thread a delightful pass into the path of Louis Jagger Cane, who fired an emphatic finish into the bottom corner.
The Vikings were able to enjoy the closing minutes with the points in the bag and added some late gloss when a clever ball over the top from Will Jenkins picked out Jagger Cane, who once again demonstrated outstanding composure in rounding the home custodian before lashing the ball into the empty net.
Next on the menu for Sidmouth is a visit from Ivybridge Town, who will present the biggest challenge yet to the unbeaten run. The Ivies are currently fourth in the table and desperately need a win to keep pace with the leading trio of Crediton, Okehampton and Brixham.
Sidmouth Town 2nds extended the good feeling around the club, as they demolished Dawlish United 6-1 in the Devon & Exeter Premier Division. Scott Hughes scored a hat-trick, Jack Drew-Cull a brace and there was an own goal in top performance.
Ottery St Mary also enjoyed a terrific weekend, as they found some of their best form to win 3-1 at Fremington in the Devon Football League. The Otters have struggled for consistency this term but this was a performance full of belief and tempo.
Seb Copp, Aaron Libretto and Riki Pitter scored the goals for Ottery, who now move on to a tough game at the University of Exeter this weekend.
