A run of four games without a win has made it very difficult for Exeter City to make a late push for the play-offs in Sky Bet League One.
A 1-0 defeat at Port Vale was particularly frustrating, as Exeter easily played well enough to get something from the game but were ultimately undone when Rekeem Harper was dismissed on the hour and Will Forrester pinched the only goal for the home side a minute later.
The Grecians are currently 14th in the table and nine points clear of the relegation zone. This weekend is a big one, as second from bottom Cambridge United visit St James Park and an opportunity for City to rediscover their winning form.
Just down the Devon Expressway, Plymouth Argyle remain second in the table and also now have a Wembley trip on the menu, as they defeated Cheltenham Town on penalties in the Papa Johns Trophy semi-final.
