After a well-deserved summer of rest, the U14 and U16 netballers from Sidmouth Netball Club kicked off the season in style playing a total of 17 matches over seven hours of glorious summer sunshine.

The U14s suffered their only defeat of the day in the opening match, quickly responding with a powerful 7-1 victory over AVNC Quakes with some tremendous movement throughout.

Dart Cyclones were beaten in a tight match before the momentum continued with a dominant triumph over Honiton Haze, with some outstanding defensive pressure. Attackers came to the fore in the 5-0 win over Titans Pegasus and a top day was completed by further victories against Exmouth Emeralds and Exeter Lunar.

The U16s also got off to a slow start but recovered with a 3-2 fightback success against Exeter Zodiac. A Dart team just edged the next game by the same score but the Sidmouth Eagles turned on the style to defeat AVNC Aftershocks 4-0.

The girls were now flowing and some brilliant attacking play earned an 8-2 win in the next game before local rivals Honiton, Exeter and Exmouth all succumbed to Sidmouth’s attacking netball. Seven victories and three defeats from a gruelling day on court.
