Ottery U16s kept their league title hopes alive with a 3-2 home win against Alphington. Addy Carpenter’s side were far from their best after a five-week lay-off but managed to grind out a crucial victory.
The win sees the Otters remain in second spot in division one of the Exeter & District youth league, just two points behind leaders Cranbrook United.
Central defender Tom Maynard opened the scoring on four minutes and James Blain double the lead with a 25-yard stunner. The Alphas pulled one back before the break and then levelled early in the second period, but leading scorer Seb Copp stepped up to smash the winner for Ottery.
Ottery St Mary Ladies collected their first points of the season from a high scoring away win against University of Exeter, as a personal haul of six goals from 'hot shot', Kelsey Salter gave the Otters an incredible 6 - 5 win.
