Potential record-breaking fish caught in Devon waters

Now we have a potential Boat caught Grey Gurnard record weighing in at 2lbs 8ozs 14dr, caught by Nick Manley and weighed at Brixham Sea Anglers Club. This fish is awaiting ratification by the British record fish committee.

The Gilthead Bream are now showing in good numbers around our estuaries with reports coming in of fish up to 6lbs. Jason Upham landed a new personal best of 2lbs12oz whilst Daniel Patrick landed one of 4lbs 2oz.

Saleem Ali fished a shore session targeting Rays and had success, landing a Blonde Ray of 12lbs 14oz and a Spotted Ray of3lbs 4oz. The best Ray of the week went to Aaron Colhoun on the Somerset coast for his Blonde Ray of 16lbs 2oz.

Honiton SAC held their monthly shore competition at Sidmouth, where 26 anglers fought for the honours on the night, the winner with the best percentage overall and the best specimen went to Lee Knight whose Bull Hiss of 10lbs 6oz helped him with his win. The club have also just held their presentation night where father and son duo of James sandReid Trevett took the honours as top boat anglers.

Maizie White fished with her dad on a Torbay rock mark and in a few hours landed over 20 Ballan Wrasse. Another junior angler getting amongst the fish was Toby Parham who had a great day getting amongst the Pollack.

Spring Ponds latest competition saw Steve Barrell take the honours with a bag of Carp weighing 55lbs from peg 13 with Jason Fay and Steve Hayman taking the next two places with pellet being the preferred bait.

Upham Farm near Exeter produced a stunning Carp of 25lbs to the rod of Sam Hammond who was using Bait Brothers Assassin Boillies.
