Newbarn Angling centre continues to produce good fish with regular Bob Wooster catching plenty of Carp to the 20lbs+ on his favourite surface baits.
Another regular, Wayne Hockley, landed a Common carp of just under 20lbs from the margins with the most stunning fish in the water, Goldie, weighing in at 22lbs, falling to the rod of John Selly and a Five Star baits banana boilie.
There has been work been done on both the Willow and lily ponds. Lily is now fishable, although still more work to do, but has produced Rudd, Perch, Bream and Crucian Carp. There are rumours of a couple of Grass Carp in the pond, as well as Tench. Please let me know if any of these are caught.
Work has also been done on Spring ponds, making some of the swims easier to fish. Plenty of Carp are coming out at the moment with the fisheries own hard pellet producing fish.
Kennick Flyfishers held the latest round of the Snowbee Top Rod competition at Wimbleball reservoir. Sixteen anglers fished landing 39 fish for a total weight of 106lbs 9oz with the winner on the day being Alex Venn with his five fish limit and a weight of 14lbs 9oz. James Friendship and Chris Bolt took the next two places. The best fish of the day was a stunning 6lbs 6oz Blue Trout for Alex Venn, with Bill Hand landing a 6lbs 3oz Rainbow Trout.
Members of both Honiton and Exmouth clubs have been busy with club shore competitions on the south coast, with plenty of Smoothhounds, Conger Eels, Mackerel, Rays, Wrasse and Bass being caught. Exmouth’s Gareth Moffat landed a 10lbs Smoothhound and Honiton’s Paul Salmon a decent Bass.
Pollack are still showing on the wrecks, whilst the inshore fishing is producing some good fish. Tom Travers and James Trevett tried a new mark out from the south coast and found plenty of Tope, plus some Rays, and James landed a stunning Spotted Ray.
