The body of a man was discovered in Seaton on Saturday (November 30).
Police said his death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
Formal identification is due to take place, according to officers.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "The family of Jonathan Wilson, 55, from Sidmouth, who was reported missing on Thursday (November 28), have been made aware."
Devon and Cornwall Police issued a missing person's appeal for Jonathan Wilson on November 29. He had been missing for a week since then (Friday November 22).
