Ottery Town Council is inviting residents to embrace the Christmas spirit at the Ottery St Mary Festive Cheer event.

It takes place this Friday, (November 29) from 4pm to 8pm, as the community come together to celebrate the festive season and support the town's businesses.

The town council says the event 'promises a magical evening' of activities, entertainment, and an opportunity to shop local.

At Festive Cheer you can expect: Tractor and Trailer Rides & Miniature Steam Engines: A delight for families in the town square.

  • · LaLa Choir Performance: Join at 5:45 PM in front of the Church for festive music. Song sheets available.
  • · Torchlit Procession: A parade from the Church to the Council Offices, starting at 6:15 PM.
  • · Christmas Light Switch-On: approximately 6:30 PM by the Carnival Royalty, followed by a performance by the Jo Wilson Dance Group.
  • · Silver Band Performance: Enjoy the festive melodies outside Downs Garage from 5:30 PM.
  • · Tree Festival at St. Mary’s Church: Marvel at the beautiful Christmas trees on display.
  • · Christmas Market: Discover unique gifts and treats in the Church grounds and Library.
  • · Late Night Shopping: Local businesses will remain open late, offering fantastic deals and festive surprises.
  • · Santa’s Grotto at Abbotts: Bring the little ones to meet Santa. Provided by Abbotts DIY. Santa’s Grotto is free and no booking required.
  • A free scavenger hunt also runs until December 21: explore local shops and the chance to win a £20 prize.
