SIDMOUTH author Lyn Ferrard has been left 'outraged' after Amazon list her novel for 1,831.15.
Lyn says that writing is now a hobby as she cares for her husband with the help of Hospice at Home Sidmouth.
Lyn is also recovering from cancer herself and writes when she has the chance.
On Friday (November 15), a friend told her that her novel RURAL CUT was being advertised on Amazon by a bookseller for £1,831.15.
Lyn told the Herald: "I was shocked, as you can imagine. My friend wanted to order a copy but at that price wasn't able to, as I'm sure you will appreciate.
"Amazon should not allow this sort of thing to happen. My writing is important to me as it helps me deal with the difficulties in my life at the moment.
"To see this on the Amazon website was upsetting. I am telling you about this as I don't want anyone else to experience seeing their work denigrated by a seller trying to ask stupid prices hoping that someone will buy and make them a lot of money, while I, as the hapless author receive nothing."
Lyn says she has spoken to Amazon and explained her situation to them. She also sent them a complaint, but says she is 'not holding her breath.'
Lyn Ferrand was the founder and director of Turning Point Theatre Company and creative director and co-founder of Buzzword Films.
Working in association with a variety of voluntary and statutory agencies over a period of 14 years, clients included The Crown Prosecution Service, The Devon and Cornwall Police, Lancashire County Council, the Scottish Mental Health Association, Rethink UK and Carers UK.
Her film The Lost Child won the National Training Award in 2005 and is still in use in the UK and Australia as a training resource for those working in the field of mental health and child protection.
Lyn began writing novels five years ago. In May 2018, her fourth book - Jonty's Win - is published by Feedaread.
