Coldharbour Field Kitchen is set to host its second dachshund gathering.

The event, titled Spooky Sausage Saturday, will see dachshunds attend in their best Halloween outfits.

The event will take place on October 26, an early Halloween celebration for the sausage dogs.

After the success of the first sausage dog meet-up in August, the Field Kitchen is excited to welcome the dachshunds and their owners for a second time.

Beth Ashfield, co-owner of the Field Kitchen and a proud sausage dog owner, said: "Given the time of year we’re hoping that lots of the sausages will come dressed in their best Halloween outfits.

"I’m thinking bats, wizards, spiders, and ghosts – the spookier the better."

Coldharbour's resident dachshund-cross Jack Russell, Nellie Barker, is also set to join the event in her pumpkin outfit.

The event is being organised due to the requests from sausage dog owners who were unable to attend the first Sausage Saturday.

Beth said: "We had lots of messages asking us to do it all again and we just couldn’t resist."

There’s no cost to come along to the Spooky Sausage Saturday but visitors will be encouraged to make a contribution to fundraising for DMT Dachshund Rescue, the UK-based registered charity which rescues dachshunds from kill shelters and the meat trade in Asia.

While the Field Kitchen is open from 9am, the spooky sausage gathering takes place from 2pm to 4pm, with Puppachinos and dog treats available for the sausages.

Other breeds are welcome, as always.

The Coldharbour event follows the recent Southwold Sausage Walk in Suffolk, which saw more than 1,000 dachshunds attend.

Beth said: "As far as I’m aware, we’re not expecting any sausages from across the pond at Coldharbour, but you never know – they really celebrate Halloween big time in the States."
