A new Halloween adventure trail is set to open at The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth.

The Trick or Trot Halloween Trail is set to run until November 3 and offers families a chance to enjoy the outdoors while searching for pumpkins that hide a trick or treat for the sanctuary's donkeys.

The trail activity encourages families to exercise their brainpower as they guess which pumpkins hold a treat for the donkeys.

The trail sheets, which cost £5 each, include a prize upon completion.

The sanctuary offers free entry, is dog-friendly, and provides numerous attractions, including nature-inspired paddocks, which are enjoyed by miniature donkeys.

There's also a natural play area, a maze, daily talks, exhibits, and a bat beacon.

Visitors can also learn how bats thrive in the sanctuary grounds, benefiting the resident donkeys.

For those looking to warm up, The Kitchen, the sanctuary's award-winning restaurant, serves various hot meals and snacks made from local seasonal produce, as well as beverages such as pumpkin spiced lattes and cookie hot chocolates.

The restaurant provides views of the countryside.

A gift shop is also available, with all profits aiding donkeys and mules globally.

The Donkey Sanctuary, open daily from 9am to 5pm, offers free entry and parking, and welcomes dogs on leads.
