On Friday, September 20 ‘Gladrags’ opened its doors to Sidmouth’s high street located on Church Street.
Niamh Nowlan writes this review of Gladrags for the Herald.
It’s already clear Gladrags is a great addition to Sidmouth’s community, with many locals already popping into browse.
The chic double-fronted clothing boutique is owned by Jane, long-term Sidmouth resident. Jane explains opening a clothing store is “something I have always wanted to do.”
"Having worked in multiple industries including owning a hair salon in Sidmouth, I always wanted to go back into business and have chosen the fashion industry as it has always been her dream to own a boutique.”
Walking into the store the fresh floors, chic black rails and new white paintwork is the perfect backdrop to set the clothing.
Jane says customers will experience “friendly service and honest, helpful advice if needed.” Carefully curated brands include Danish brands, Part Two and Yaya, Australian clothing company, Brave and True and UK brand Chalk.
If you’re looking for clothing with a contemporary, elegant and effortless style including transitional pieces to see you from day into evening then Gladrags is for you.
This collection is a great way to create a capsule wardrobe with pieces available including, shirts and jumpers with skirts or wide-leg trousers, and a perfect day-to-night dress.
Jane said: "You should feel comfortable and fabulous in what you wear. If you’re looking for accessories, faux sheep skin clutch bags, fluffy hot water bottles and Christmas stockings are also available – the perfect gifting pieces."
Jane is assisted by Wendy working on Wednesdays and Fridays making sure customers are looked after and find the perfect look for them.
This is helped with Wendys previous experience in retail owning her own clothing boutique. If you’re looking for a more bespoke shopping experience Gladrags, will be offering one-to-one appointments to find the perfect capsule look for you, so don’t forget to pop in and enquire.
It is clear that Gladrags is the perfect addition to Sidmouth’s community, even looking to host shopping evenings and fashion-based workshops.
We look forward to the store filling up with more stock for our current brands in the next few weeks.
Looking to next Spring/Summer, I can let you know exclusively FRNCH, Grace and Mila and Coster Copenhagen will be being stocked too.
Gladrags is ready to welcome you from 9:30am to 5pm Monday to Saturday so make sure on your next trip into Sidmouth, Gladrags is on your list.
