Rockfish has announced that it will no longer be moving forward with plans to open a new location in Topsham.

The site had been lined up as part of Rockfish's expansion, but timing and unforeseen delays in construction and planning on their other projects in Salcombe and Sidmouth meant that Topsham would have to be opened much later than planned.

The company says it 'remains focused' on its current projects with upcoming confirmed openings for 2025 in Salcombe and Sidmouth.

Rockfish is now hoping to find a new tenant for the space and they say they are 'ensuring that it does not remain empty.

They added they 'recognise the community’s growing interest in seeing the site revitalised.'

Mitch Tonks, Founder and CEO of Rockfish said: "We’ve been excited about opening Rockfish Topsham and creating a special space to enjoy seafood.

"Unfortunately, this project is impossible for now, mainly just not being able to complete it in a reasonable time due to our other projects taking longer than we thought.

"We know the community has been eagerly awaiting the opening, and it’s with a heavy heart that we’ve decided to step away from this site.

"We believe this is the most responsible choice for us & the people of Topsham. We’re in discussions with the landlord to help find a suitable tenant for the space, and we remain hopeful that something exciting will take its place.

"Rockfish has always strived to contribute positively to the communities it serves, and Topsham was no exception.

"The decision to pause the opening was not made lightly, and the company recognises the disappointment this news may bring to local residents and seafood enthusiasts.

"We understand that this news may be met with some disappointment," Tonk"Our priority now is to work with the landlord to find a replacement that will benefit the community.

"Our goal is to ensure Topsham’s quay continues to thrive, even if Rockfish cannot be part of that journey right now."
