The A3052 at the bottom of Four Elms Hill has now re-opened, as South West Water finishes repairing a burst water main in the road.

Yesterday (Tuesday September 24), traffic delays were reported through Newton Poppleford, after South West Water closed the road after a burst water main. Read more: Newton Poppleford: traffic slow after water main bursts.

A section of the A3052 just outside Newton Poppleford at the bottom of Four Elms Hill was closed as contractors worked to fix the broken section of pipe. The road is closed both ways and a diverson is in place until at least Thursday. 

South West Water said in a statement on September 24, that the road wouldn't re-open until Thursday, it seems they have finished the work ahead of schedule.

Yesterday, there was also issues with water supplies to homes in Newton Poppleford due to the work.

Stagecoach South West alerted customers on Twitter, that the road had re-opened. The previous diversion route was causing issues to the bus timetable.

South West Water said on Tuesday: “We are working hard to fix a burst water main on the A3052 in Harpford, Sidmouth and are using tankers to keep customers in supply until this is fixed.

“We have had to close the road to carry out the work safely and we aim to reopen it on Thursday once the burst is fixed and the road is reinstated. A diversion route is in place.”
