Sidmouth Rugby Club has paid tribute to a former player of theirs, who was tragically killed in a car crash in New Zealand.
In a statement on Facebook this afternoon (September 25), they announced the death of Franck Friconnett, who died in a car accident in his native country New Zealand. They paid tribute to a 'beloved member of Sidmouth Rugby Club'.
A spokesman for Sidmouth RFC said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our former player, Franck Friconnet, who was killed in a car accident in his native New Zealand. Franck was an incredible talent, a much beloved member of our club & friend to many. Our thoughts are with his family, friends & all who knew him. He will be greatly missed & fondly remembered. Rest in peace Big Franck."
Residents have been quick to respond to the tribute. Hayley Otway said 'he was such a lovely guy,' Stuart Coles said that 'Franck the tank was one of the best,' Malcolm Barratt said that is was a 'shame such a nice guy'.
Sally Barratt said 'So sad.' Julie Vicary said: "So heartbreaking sending love to all his family and friends.' and Lynley Doulton said: 'So sad to hear. He was a lovely guy.'
