Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat was tasked to assist in the rescue of a woman with a suspected broken ankle on Weston Beach.
South Western Ambulance Service (SWAST), including the Hazardous Area Response Team, were already on scene alongside Beer Coastguard providing medical assistance. with the incident on Tuesday (September 16).
A spokesman for Sidmouth Lifeboat said: "Due to the challenging location, it was determined that the best way to transport the injured woman to safety was by lifeboat.
The Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat crew arrived and stretchered the casualty to a suitable landing area. The casualty was then successfully transported to Sidmouth Lifeboat Station, where she was transferred to an awaiting ambulance and taken to hospital.
The spokesman added: "The swift coordination between emergency services ensured the casualty’s safe and efficient extraction. Many thanks to all involved and we wish the casualty a speedy recovery."
This is the 11th callout for Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat this year.
