The Surfers Against Sewage app shows a 'sewage pollution alert' for Sidmouth this morning (September 9).
Alerts have been issued for Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Sandy Bay, Seaton and Beer. "there has been a sewage discharge into the sea from here. South West Water is responsible for this spill."
South West Water's Waterfit Live, available online does not register a sewage discharge in any towns today.
The app says: "There has been a sewage discharge at Sidmouth Town which started on September 7 at 6.42pm. South West Water is responsible for this discharge.
A history of the alerts shows it was also triggered on September 5 and September 1.
The app also directs people to send an email to the local MP and the CEO of South West Water. You can also register if you have been sick after swimming and evidence of pollution.
There are three types of alerts on the Surfers Against Sewage app, a sewage discharge alert, means there has been a sewage discharge from a combined sewer overflow within the past 48 hours. pollution risk alert' which means' bathing is not advised' and a pollution incident alert which means there has been a confirmed incident alert.
