After a packed Summer of trips, photo walks and socialising, members of Sidmouth Photographic Club are counting down the days to the start of their 2024/25 Season on 4th September.

There is much for its photographers to look forward to in the months ahead, with a varied programme of meetings as well as some exciting new features. As ever, membership gives access to weekly meetings, educational resources, five Special Interest Groups (clubs-within-a-club) and circa 20 trips over the course of the year. Presentations by members and guest speakers, workshops, competitions and social events complete an extensive programme line-up.

The club has recently undergone a visual facelift and is now sporting smart, contemporary branding on all of its media and publications. SPC is keen to attract younger members to the club and it’s hoped that the modern appearance, together with a Young Person’s discounted subscription rate (half the normal subscription fee, for those aged 18-25) will encourage young adults to think seriously about joining the club, regardless of what type of camera they use.

Another new feature for this September is the launch of a creative photography group for members who enjoy using fun or experimental techniques to take and edit images and for others who wish to learn how to do the same.

For anyone thinking of expanding their photographic horizons by joining a club, or interested in finding out more about what Sidmouth Photographic Club does, doors open on the new season at 7pm on Wednesday 4th September at All Saints’ Church Hall and visitors are most welcome (£3 per taster session).

New for this year, the club are also holding an informal ‘Meet Us’ event on Sidmouth Esplanade on Saturday 7th September between 10.30am-3.30pm (in front of the rock groyne opposite Fore Street). Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, young or old, with all the kit or simply a smartphone, this is the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow photography enthusiasts and learn about the club’s upcoming programme and projects. They look forward to meeting you!
