Year 11 students at The King's School have received their GCSE and BTEC results today (August 22).

The Kings School is keen to take this opportunity to celebrate the hard work of all young people and the staff that have supported them over the past two years.

They say they are delighted that students have achieved very well, with many individual successes across the ability range.

One third of all results were grades 9-7, a large number of students also achieved strong passes in English and mathematics, giving many the knowledge to progress on to further study.

Today we have seen academic achievement that students will be extremely proud of.  As a result of their success, students are now able to progress on to the next stage of their education and many students have chosen to remain at The King's School to study A Level courses next academic year.  This positive choice by students to return to the 6th Form reflects the outstanding teaching and support students have received whilst at the school.

Headteacher Rob Gammon said: "As a comprehensive school with an underlying ethos of ‘Achievement for All’, we are very pleased to see that a large number of students achieved or exceeded their predicted grades in the full range of grades and subjects.

“These examinations results have been achieved by a wonderful group of students with the support of staff and parents.  The high level of achievement across the ability range is a strong indication of the school’s commitment to ‘Achievement for All’ and demonstrates the school’s ability to balance the academic and personal development of students.

Examination results are important but are not the only measure of success and I am delighted that this group of students were able to grow as young people during their time with us.  I am equally pleased that many of our students will return to The King's School for their A Levels, showing the confidence they have in the school to support them for the next two years.

"We are also looking forward to welcoming a large number of external students in September.  We wish all our year 11 students every success as they take their next step in education and want to thank them and their parents for all the hard work and support during Key Stage 4."
