Sidmouth Lifeboat and HM Coastguard were called on Monday afternoon (August 19) to help a 'vulnerable man' in the water.
The crew were tasked at around 2pm to a vulnerable male in the water off the main town beach.
Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat crew spoke with the male, who had left the water and later left the scene, and assisted the coastgaurd as requested.
The lifeboat stood down at around 3pm without needing to launch. The Boat crew included Martin Barnard (Helm), Ian Fletcher, Kyle Baker, Adrian Blight, Tractor driver: Paul May, DLA: Andy Mitchell, Shore crew: Cameron Baker, Alex Russel, Stephen Waller
Lifeguard Nikita Watkins also assisted the two teams. This is the seventh call-out Sidmouth Lifeboat has been on so far in 2024.
Sidmouth Lifeboat is a fully self-funded independent lifeboat charity in East Devon. Covering an area of approximately 150 square miles of sea between Axmouth and Budleigh Salterton. Volunteer crew are on service 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. We are not part of or funded by the RNLI, but we do work alongside it; however, along with many other independent lifeboat stations across the UK, they run completely independently.
The Beach Lifeguard service at Sidmouth is also funded by Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat and not part of the RNLI.
